Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 5 runs in another thrilling match but failed to make the Semi Finals as they had to defend the 147 runs in order to reach the semi finals instead they allowed Sri Lanka to score 207 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Hence New Zealand is in the semi finals in place of Pakistan because of having a better Net run rate.
Have to say that luck deserted Pakistan in this tournament as their match against New Zealand was washed out and Pakistan in all probability would have won against New Zealand instead they have to contend with a super eight finish.
Throughout the tournament Sahibzada Farhan scored runs and lacked support from the other Pakistani batsmen. If other Pakistani batsmen contributed too particularly in their super eight match against England Pakistan would have reached the semi finals of this tournament.
In the end what I would like to say is that Pakistan were unlucky not to reach the semi finals of Twenty20 World Cup 2026 because of rain playing spoil sport.
